Independence

Cyber Essentials Scanner is an independent tool inspired by the UK Cyber Essentials framework. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for the official Cyber Essentials scheme operated by the NCSC/IASME. Only certification bodies approved by NCSC/IASME can grant Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus certification.

Purpose and scope

This tool is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis for general information only. It is intended to highlight basic, publicly visible configuration issues that relate to Cyber Essentials controls. It does not assess internal networks, endpoints, user practices, or wider organisational measures. It is not a substitute for a full assessment, penetration test, or certification by an accredited body.

No warranties

We make no representations or warranties, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability of the scanner or the information and results it provides. Any reliance you place on such information is strictly at your own risk.

No guarantee of certification

Use of this tool does not guarantee that you will achieve Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus certification. Certification requires a full assessment carried out by an NCSC/IASME‑approved certification body.

Security and data

The scanner runs in your browser and does not install anything on your systems. Where you provide information (such as a URL to scan), it is used only for the purpose of running the scan. Please ensure you have permission to scan the target system and that you comply with applicable laws and terms of use.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with the use of the scanner, including without limitation indirect or consequential loss, or any loss of data, business or profits. By using this tool, you agree that responsibility for acting on results rests solely with you or your appointed IT provider.
